RFP Questions and Answers

Dedicated Internet Access-Administration RFP
Question: Will SDSL technology be considered as a method of access?? If not as a
primary internet connection, would it be considered as a backup solution
for failover?

Answer:  Yes if the SDSL connection can meet our bandwidth, throughput and uptime requirement.

Question:   I’m assuming that the Internet will be coming into the school’s data center. What’s the address of the district’s data center?

Answer: The data center address is 195 McGregor street, Manchester NH 03102, suite 201.

Question: Do you have editable versions of the RFP's available for all 4 proposals?? If so, can you forward them to me?

Answer:  For security purposes we do not supply editable versions of the RFPs.  The pdf file is all that is available to participants at this time.

Question: Can you provide more detail regarding the specific insurance requirements?

Answer:  Vendor should carry general liability and auto insurance relative to any service that it performs for the district, and shall add the Manchester School District as an additional insured.  The selected vendor should carry $1,000,000 for General Liability and Auto Insurance each occurance and general aggregate.  Workers Compensation $500,000 for each accident, illness or disease or such other amount that may be  required by the most current laws of the State of New Hampshire, whichever is greater covering the activities of its officers, managers and employees during its contract term with the district.

Dedicated Internet Access-Schools RFP
Question: Will SDSL technology be considered as a method of access?? If not as a
primary internet connection, would it be considered as a backup solution
for failover?

Answer:  Yes if the SDSL connection can meet our bandwidth, throughput and uptime requirement.

Question: You’re asking for “dedicated Internet access” which can be provided by just a few types of networks such as via T1 or fiber (and a couple of others). Not included in that category is cable Internet. Having managed the local Comcast Business Class team for several years prior to moving to Lightower, I’m familiar that you currently have Comcast in the schools, hence me requesting clarification.

Also, Comcast does not offer SLAs of any kind at the cable-modem level (they do on their metro-Ethernet platform), nor do they guarantee network uptimes of any percentage. In fact, they don’t even make network uptime numbers available to employees or customers at the cable-modem level.

Are you looking to move away from Comcast or is the RFP mistaken in its request? I just wouldn’t want my sales engineers to employ many man hours to build out product/pricing on 20-plus sites if a fiber option (more expensive than Comcast) would not be considered.

Answer:  The term "dedicated" as referenced in our RFP has to do with the school location as opposed to a specific type of technology.  We want each school to have a separate (dedicated) internet connection as opposed to a shared connection at the data center.  We are looking at services comparable to the current Comcast Business Class internet access.  An SLA is preferred but is not mandatory.  We realize that the RFP terminology may be unclear and have posted an addendum with further clarification regarding our SLA requirement.

CampusEAI to manage the email hosting in our 'Cloud' at our hosting
